In October 2009, set in collaboration with the Hispanic Studies department and hosted by the University of Edinburgh, CinemaAttic organized ‘The loss of Historical Memory in after-war Spain: a visual art reconstruction’.

A panel of three specialists (Andrew Ginger -University of Stirling-, Nigel Dennis and Bernard Bentley -University of Saint Andrews-) offered a comprehensive insight into the subject. The conference was complemented with the screening of Carla’s Subirana Nadar (2008) and Arturo Ruiz Serrano’s appealing short Paseo (2009).

Over the next years, CinemaAttic was responsible of other discussions around different subjects such as An introduction to Spanish Short Film Animation by Malu Barnuevo in May 2010 at the University of Stirling;  Lorca and cinema given by Nigel Dennis in July 2010 or the most recent speech by Bernard Bentley on Luis Garcia Berlanga: life and cinema in December 2011 at Edinburgh Filmhouse.
